Distinguished for his researches on the feeding, digestion and assimilation of marine animals, especially Mollusca, but including also Crustacea, Tunicata and Corals. The results are published in a series of papers in Journ. Exp. Biol., Journ. Mar. Biol. Assoc., Reports Gt.Barrier Reef Expdn., and Phil. Trans. Roy. Soc. From 1923 to 1939. The work is summarised in Biological Reviews, 3, 1928 and 12, 937. A classified list of papers is appended.
