TitleLockspeiser, Sir Ben: certificate of election to the Royal Society
CitationDistinguished as a leader of research workers and adviser on research problems, mainly in the aeronautical field. In earlier days he conducted research on de-icing & other subjects at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, but his claim rests primarily on his fine leadership, first as Director of Research in the Ministry of Aircraft Production & later in the still more influential post which he now holds. Of late years his wisdom & vision have been invaluable in guiding aeronautical & allied researches towards new & important developments, as yet not clearly understood, resulting from the discoveries of the war period.
