TitleYoung, Sir Frank George: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished as a biochemist, and in particular for his work on the hormones of the anterior pituitary gland. His outstanding achievement has been the production of permanent experimental diabetes in animals by injection of anterior pituitary extracts, and he has subjected the whole question of pituitary control of the insulin-secreting function of the pancreas to close and skilful experimental analysis. He has also made important contributions to the fractionation of the anterior pituitary hormones and to the study of the glycotropic, galactopoietic and growth principles of the gland.
