CitationDisitnguished for his work on the endocrine control of mammary growth and function. His main contributions in this field include pioneer work on the galactopoietic effect of oestrogen and its application to the artificial induction of lactation in farm animals, and on the mammogenic action of anterior hypophyseal extracts, and on the role of adrenal cortical hormones in mammary activity. He has also worked on the intermediate metabolism of the mammary gland, on the absorption of exogenous hormones, and on the effects of gonadotrophins in farm animals. A list of publications is appended.
