TitleTolansky, Samuel: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished for his experimental contribution to the knowledge of the fine structure of spectral lines, and so to the determination of nuclear spins. He has developed several new types of interference fringes, using very heavily silvered wedges. These methods are proving very fruitful in the investigation of crystal faces and many other surfaces. Amongst other applications, detailed studies have been made of the motion of quartz oscillators.
