DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished for his work in Organic Chemistry and particularly for his application of original theoretical concepts to the solution of structural problems among selected complex naturally occurring compounds.
His work falls into four main divisions, (a) the development of relationships between molecular rotations and structure, and their application to the solution of structural problems in the steroid field; (b) the stereochemistry of pyrolytic elimination reactions with special reference to the pyrolysis of chlorinated hydrocarbons; (c) structural studies, especially in the triterpenoid field; and (d) the development of the conception of conformational analysis and particularly its application to stereochemical problems in steroid, terpenoid and triterpenoid chemistry.
A list of over 80 publications is appended.
