DescriptionCitation typed
CitationDistinguished as a biochemist, and particularly for her work on the thyroid gland. She has made important contributions to knowledge of the biosynthesis of thyroxine and of the mode of action of antithyroid substances. Her recent discovery, with J Gross, of the occurrence of triiodothyronine in the thyroid gland and the blood, and the demonstration that this compound is more active than thyroxine, are major advances in the biochemistry and physiology of the thyroid.
