TitleBarrer, Richard Maling: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationProfessor Barrer is distinguished for his comprehensive work on the elucidation of the mechanism of adsorption and diffusion of gases onto and through solids. By rigorous theoretical and experimental treatment of these general problems he has shown how to identify such phenomenon and to give a more detailed and satisfactory insight into such mechanisms. He has contributed largely to the interesting problem of molecular sieves in the case of zeolite minerals interacting with a variety of relatively small molecules such as the saturated hydrocarbon. His book on Diffusion in Solids is the standard and most comprehensive work on this subject.
