His intensive study of the Cross Fell area proved marked overthrusting.
His detailed mapping of Glacial Drifts of the Midlands has revolutionized views regarding the origin of the present vally system. His geological study of stone implements has helped to elucidate ancient Trade Routes. His work as army geologist in the Middle East and N.W. Europe is largely contained in Confidential reports.
