TitleBishop, Ann: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCertificate of Election
CitationDistinguished for her work on cytology, life-history and cultivation of free-living and parasitic Protozoa. Of outstanding merit is her work on malarial parasites especially the discovery of the drug-resistance of these organisms which persists through several generations of the sexual cycle, and the discovery of the cross resistance to substances of different chemical structure. These investigations are of great biological interest and opened a new field of research in the physiology of malarial parasites. List of publications is appended
