TitleNockolds, Stephen Robert: certificate of election to the Royal Society
DescriptionCertificate of Election
CitationDistinguished for his contributions to the problems of hybridism and contamination in igneous magmas, and in the field of geochemistry. He has made extended investigations on the petrography and petrogenesis of Scottish Caledonian igneous rocks including a masterly restudy of classic ground in his work on the Garabal Hill plutonic complex of Argyllshire. Latterly he has turned his attention to experimental geochemistry, particularly on the quantitative distribution of trace elements in igneous rock series, a study which has already provided significant data on magnetic lineages. His studies in mineral paragenesis in relation to chemical environment, both among igneous and metamorphic rocks are well known.
