CitationMorgan joined the Royal Aircraft Establishment in 1935; he soon became a leader of research on stability and control, especially at full-scale. In 1948 he took charge of the Guided Weapons Department, when he was a leading partner in the work leading to the first generation of British weapons. In 1954, when Deputy Director of the R.A.E., he was personally responsible for all the technical and economic research on the feasibility of supersonic flight in general and the Concorde in particular. Since 1959 he has been Controller of Aircraft and later Controller of Guided Weapons and Electronics. He is (1967-8) President of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
He has a distinguished record, both as a personal research worker and as an overseer of engineering research and development.
