CitationRawcliffe has made many contributions to the theory and practice of Electrical Machinery, and is particularly distinguished for the invention and development of multi-speed single winding alternating-current motors of all kinds. He is the originator of about fifty Patents (held by the National Research Development Corporation) for these machines, which are in service all over the world, and which are being exported or made under licence abroad in very large sizes.
He is the author of many published papers, and has initiated much work done by collaborators and assistants, both in Bristol and elsewhere. He is also a Consultant to many leading makers of Electrical Machinery, including (e.g.) Westinghouse of U.S.A.
