DescriptionCitation typed. Note attached to certificate detailing further achievements by Beynon.
CitationDistinguished for his original contributions to our knowledge of the ionosphere. His observational work carried out over a period of more than 25 years has been made using pulse sounder techniques and these results have contributed significantly to our understanding of the nature of the ionospheric regions, the internal motions within them and their association with solar and geophysical factors. In addition to his scientific work Beynon has given selfless devotion to the cause of international science, especially in those disciplines which have only been able to thrive through international collaboration. For 20 years he has been a leading figure in the International Union for Radio Science (URSI) and is at present the senior Vice-President.
