Title | Binnie, Geoffrey Morse: certificate of election to the Royal Society |
Description | Citation typed |
Citation | Binnie has been responsible for the design and supervision of the construction of several large irrigation and water-supply schemes; but his principal achievements are the Dokan Dam in Iraq, an arch dam 385 ft. high (1954-59), and the Mangla Dam Project in West Pakistan (1961-67). The latter is one of the largest and most important civil engineering works ever carried out, and from the earliest site investigations in 1958 until completion in 1967 Binnie has devoted himself to its design and construction with outstanding success. A list of 14 publications is attached. |
