TitleGoldstone, Jeffrey: certificate of election to the Royal Society
Date1974
DescriptionCitation typed
CitationGoldstone's work has been characterised by its depth of insight and the seminal influence it has had upon many-body theory and the field theory of elementary particles. He introduced Feynman diagram techniques into the derivation of the linked cluster expansion, thereby providing a diagrammatic approach to many body theory which has proved to be of great importance. "Goldstone bosons" are fundamental to many modern developments of quantum field theory. His recent work on relativistic strings has shed significant light on dual resonance models and inaugurated the study of extended relativistic systems.
