1949 worked on design of Canberra, the 1st British jet bomber.
1950 As Chief Engineer undertook complete responsibility for development and introduction of Canberra unto operational service. Then responsible design and development P.1 & Lightning aircraft, the 1st British aircraft to exceed Mach 1 and then Mach II in level flight.
1965 As Managing Director, BAC (Preston) Ltd. Responsible for development and production of Strikemaster, then Jaguar, the latter in conjunction with the French, followed by the MRCA now the Tornado, with the Germans & Italian
1972 As Managing Director (Aircraft) BAC Ltd. Responsible for all BAC's aircraft activities, civil & military
1977 was appointed Board Member, British Aerospace, with responsibility for aircraft.
