CitationDistinguished for his many contributions to the design of digital computers, programming systems, and mathematical software. Wheeler designed the programming systems for EDSAC 1 and EDSAC 2. He had primary responsibility for the design of the Titan computer and was the sole designer of the Cambridge CAP Computer. Through his many contacts in industry and in the Universities Wheeler has, over the years, contributed significantly to the development of digital computers and their applications.
