Title | Copy letter, from Sir John Herschel to Charles Babbage, dated at Slough |
Creator | John Frederick William Herschel |
Date | 10 May 1820 |
Description | Copy of letter, copied as part of the correspondence project led by Colonel John Herschel FRS following the death of his father. Charles Babbage is 'incurable castle-builder.' Denies that John Frederick William Herschel falls easily into love. Eradicating 'one hastily conceived & silly passion' has deadened John Frederick William Herschel's heart. Any future love must follow a long acquaintance and friendship. |
