DescriptionThe Foundation "was created in 1979 to provide supplemental funds to the British Sports Association for the Disabled and the British Paraplegic Sports Society..." Thompson was invited to become a Trustee of the Foundation in December 1979 and, until his resignation in December 1982, played a very active role in its affairs. In particular, he launched an appeal in 1981 aimed at football organizations, with the support of many famous players, managers and others.
