Description | ' Mr Willughby produced a Whitings heade to shew that there was a movable skin over the eye, answerable to what Mr Henshaw shewed the last day of a Snakes skin, wherein ther was two little concave and convex glasses in the place of the eyes, cast off with the rest of the skin, affixed to it, in the du place.
Sir Rob: Moray gave an account of his Majesties favours to this Society in declaring his pleasure that no Patent should passe for any Philosophicall or Mechanicall invention, but what was first put to the examination of this Society.
Hee spoke likewise of a proposall like to bee referrd speedily of making Iron with Seacole. Sir Rob Moray having formerly himselfe been engaged in that Experiment of Making Iron with Seacole, did declare his Judgement that he conceived the attempt not feasible, because (as hee conceived) of that Abundance of sulphur in it, which destroyed that quality in Iron which should render it tenacious. The Debate of this adiourned till the Person himself who undertakes it doe make his experience.

Mr Evelyn read his papers wherein he had put together the severall suggestions offered by others in distinct papers, by way of answer to the Queries of the Commisioners of the Navy, together with his owne observations and apprehensions concerning the propagation of Timber-Trees. For which the thanks of the Society was given him, And hee desired to print the paper read by him.
The Experiment about breaking Wires, prosecuted this day. Referred to a further Tryall and Dr Goddard desired to bring in an Account of it to bee Registerd.
Dr Goddard, Dr Merrett, Mr Evelyn and Dr Wilkins appointed a Committee to make an extract out of Mr Evelyns papers and the others etc in order to returne a briefe and Methodicall answer to the Queries of the Commissioners. ' |
