DescriptionEight volumes of scientific letters and papers from various authors containing accounts, observations and theories covering a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. Sent to the Royal Society for discussion and possible publishing. Some items feature original artwork, figures and tables. The coverage of the volumes that make up decade 3 is as follows:

Volume 21: item numbers 1-57, read 20 March 1755 - 27 November 1755
Volume 22: item numbers 58-138, read 11 December 1755 - 18 March 1756
Volume 23: item numbers 139-195, read 18 March 1756 - 18 November 1756
Volume 24: item numbers 196-225, read 16 December 1756 - 24 February 1757
Volume 25: item numbers 226-268, read 3 March 1757 - 24 November 1757
Volume 26 and 27 (bound together): item numbers 269-340, read 8 December 1757 - 23 November 1758
Volume 28 and 29 (bound together): item numbers 341-402, read 14 December 1758 - 22 November 1759
Volume 30: item numbers 403-420, read 30 November 1759 - 21 February 1760

The dates given correspond to the date that the papers were written/sent by the author. The read date in the description indicates when papers were read at a Royal Society meeting.

Each volume contains a list of contents which provides: a document reference number, author, title, extent, date of reading to the Society and place of publication in the 'Philosophical Transactions' as far as could be determined for each item.
