DescriptionRegarding the Edinburgh International Exhibition 1886. Encloses a copy of the prospectus of the exhibition [enclosure not present]. Refers to the pieces of art from Scottish artists they would like to display, and informs the Queen will contribute to the Loan Section. Requests the Royal Society to contribute to the Loan Section, and informs that the Committee [of the exibition] are prepared to insure works sent on loan. The Executive Council requests the Society to suggest names of owners of works of art that could be contacted by Fine Art Loan Section regarding this matter. The Executive would be specially gratified if' the Society could lend them the portrait of Edmund Halley by [Thomas] Murray.
