DescriptionLister has been directed by the Marquis of Salisbury to inform the President and Fellows of the Society, of the discovery 'of pits of "infusorial earth" containing 85 to 95 percent of silica' near Stavenger. Remarks that 'capital is being sought' for working with the deposits 'which are estimated to be capable of yielding 400,000 cubic metres' of the 'rare product'. Refers to similar deposits at Lüneburg and Hanover, but remarks on the pure quality of the Stravenger deposits.
