TitleLetter from Ramon Manjarres, Consejo Provincial de Fomento, Sevilla, to the President of the Royal Geographical Society, London
CreatorManjarres; Ramon (fl 1912)
Date28 February 1912
DescriptionBegs a favour in a matter relating to the Royal Society. Antoni Ulloa, returning from his meridian work in Peru was taken prisoner by the English, but the English government returned him all his papers, and Martin Folkes & Earl Stanhope introduced him to the Royal Society with such a flattering enconium that Ulloa refrained from repeating it. The author is collecting the "Archives de Yndias" of the Seville data relative to Ulloa and would be greatly obliged if he would be favoured with a copy of the minutes of the meeting in 1746 when Ulloa was admitted a Fellow, containing the terms under which he was introduced and any account a description of platinum (if there is any).
