Description | Informs that the Council of the Chemical Society considered a letter, and attaches memorandum from Major-General H.R. Thuillier, Controller of the Chemical Warfare Department [enclosure present]. The memorandum emphasises the need to secure a steady flow of chemical students and enhance training facilities to maintain a supply of trained chemists for war efforts and future industry demands. The Council acknowledges the urgency and importance of this issue and adopts the following resolutions:
1. All qualified chemists on active service, whether teachers, research chemists, or technical chemists, should be discharged unless they are engaged in critical chemical work for the war. 2. Bona fide chemistry students who had begun their college training before joining the forces should be discharged to complete their training with minimal delay. |
