Title | Letter from Sir Archibald Geikie, Shepherd's Down, Haslemere, Surrey, to [Alfred Bray] Kempe |
Date | 29 May 1914 |
Description | Enclosing a letter from Louisa Elizabeth Lawrence, which he has acknowledged with thanks. He asks that Kempe duly communicate with Miss Lawrence on the formal arrangements to further her intentions. This is a good example of obeying the injunction to 'cast your bread upon the waters', the only pity being that benefit seldom comes. He is looking forward to being with Sir Alfred and Lady Kempe on 9 June. He met Sir William Osler at the Athenaeum and he said to be at Paddington at 9.50a.m. for the train to Oxford. His man will be waiting and the ceremonies begin at 12.00. |
