TitleLetter from E W Playfair to Thomas Ralph Merton, Treasury Chambers, Great George Street, SW1
Date20 July 1953
DescriptionThe Chancellor has had a letter from Lord Astor about the charitable Foundation which he proposes to set up in New York, partially to help British scientists and doctors to study in America on matters that the Americans are more advanced in. Astor asks for the Chancellor's general blessing. Playfair wonders if there is anything Merton would like to say about the matter, of which the Chancellor ought to be aware before he replies to Lord Astor.
