Reports on visit to Franklin Institute, Philadelphia. Very thankful to Gerald Campbell, Consul-General, for assistance at airport. Recalls dining with Consul-General, Mr Watson and Watson's disappointing role in Franklin celebrations. Recalls telephone call from Dr [Henry Butler] Allen requesting Watson represent Cambridge University, as [Ernest William] Brown was ill. Watson delegated role and very pleased.
