DescriptionCover letter states [Archibald Vivian] Hill and [Alfred] Egerton suggest statement for re-election of Albert Seward as Foreign Secretary [of Royal Society] for 1939-40. Draft statement reminds Officers of Council resolution in March 1935 limiting maximum period of tenure of Foreign Secretary to five years. Argues Seward is suitable because he moved to Cambridge, where Royal Society offices now held, and that Thomas Holland, who was nominated for Foreign Secretary, is unable to hold role [MDA/A/22/66]. Requests Council re-elect Seward as Foreign Secretary 1939-40.
