Statement presents worries of scientists unable to work, owing to irrelevant studies or lack of lab, but excluded from National Service. Says there is surplus of reserves. Many men wish to enlist. Conveys Council's wish for Committee of Royal Society to revise list of reserved occupations. Royal Society willing to co-operate with Ministry of Labour to draw up lists to move men into National Service or more relevant lines of work.
