Description | Notice of a meeting of the Executive Committee of the International Astronomical Union in Copenhagen in early 1946, with the committee requesting that principal countries send two representatives and smaller countries send a single representative. Jones notes that in addition to himself as the President of the Union, two others would be attending as nominated by the National Committee for Astronomy on 9 November, namely Professor Frederick John Marrion Stratton of the Solar Physics Observatory, Cambridge and Professor William Michael Herbert Greaves, Fellow of the Royal Society, of the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh.
Jones refers to an understanding that the Royal Society will provides funds for the visit and make necessary travel arrangements, with the date of departure to be communicated to the Society as soon as it is known. |
