Title | Letter from J M Burgers, to Sir Henry Thomas Tizard, Foreign Secretary to the Royal Society, Burlington House, London, W1. |
Date | 5 September 1945 |
Description | Expresses pleasure at having received a letter from Tizard on 8 August 1945.
Also reports his diminished chance of visiting England due to the refusal of the English Government to grant visa entry for his planned scientific delegation. Burgers goes on to enquire as to whether the Royal Society might issue an invitation for him to visit as the secretary to the Committee on Science and its Social Relations of the International Council of Scientific Unions, and apply to 'appropriate people' in London to increase the chance of a visa being granted. Burgers hopes to be granted a permit for staying several weeks in order to visit a range of places and take the opportunity for studying scientific literature. |
