Description'Copy number 1' of Lanchester's paper (15 pages, including two figures) which consists of a summary, introduction, parts one, two, three and four of the paper and two appendices. Part one is entitled 'The slowing of time. Frequency'; part two is entitled 'The velocity of light as a function of frequency'; the last two parts remain untitled. The paper has been annotated by Lanchester and includes a personal inscription to Sir Henry Dale PRS on the first page.
The covering letter from Lanchester to Sir Henry Dale (23 December 1942) states that the paper is not offered for publication by The Royal Society as he does not feel it to be of an adequate standard, and expresses Lanchester's pleasure on being awarded the EWING medal.
