DescriptionContains files relating to the payments from the Gassiot and Rosse Funds, as well as the papers of the Gassiot Committee, 1925-1953. The Gassiot Fund was established in 1871, 'for the purpose of assisting in and carrying on and continuing magnetical and meteorological observations...in the Kew Observatory'. The Rosse Fund was raised by Lord Rosse and transferred to the Royal Society in 1910, for the maintenance of magnetic observations at the Valentia Observatory.
