| Description | He has been away seeing Schuster about the Solar Conference and examining at Winchester, hence his delay in replying. He hopes that Hinks will have his £50 without prejudice as he may have to break off his work without it. The committee will do well but he thinks they should have Gill's views. There is no better authority than Newcomb, but for Carnegie money, [Lewis?] Boss is the man. He is to be given a medal this year and might come over. Hale has not started on solar radiation but anything that could be done here would add value to the work. He strongly recommends the use of the Gunning Fund, giving his reasons. |
