TitleLetter from John Scott Haldane, Cherwell, Oxford, to William Bate Hardy
Date27 October 1923
DescriptionHaldane understood that Garrett would be appointed as Veale's successor [to the Tyndall Studentship]. His subject seems likely to be fruitful, but it could wait until next Spring, when he might be re-appointed, if that seemed desirable. He may have finished by then, but that seems unlikely. It would be simpler to appoint him for one year from 1 October, if it could be arranged with Council. Moss is going on with the work he wrote his paper on, and Haldane has put money for his expenses from the Miners' Welfare Fund.
