TitleLetter from William Herrick Macauley, King's College, Cambridge, to [James Alfred] Ewing
Date23 November 1919
DescriptionHopes that Ewing will be able to visit next year and he is glad that 'Thermodynamics for Engineers' is nearly ready. A.V.Hill read Macauley's 'Laws of Thermodynamics' last year and found only one blunder, on violation of the law of conservation of energy. But it did not affect the argument. Attributes this to an argument due to Inglis. There are several things in his book not seen elsewhere and Hill agrees, as does Fowler perhaps. Cites a section of chapter 7 and a figure on variables. It is intended as theory, in logical order.
