TitleLetter from Joseph Banks, Soho Square, to James Keir
Date12 February 1780
DescriptionBanks indignantly denies that he had raised objections to "your metal" in the hearing of Lord Sandwich, First Lord of the Admiralty; all that he had said to him was in favour of a further trial of the hardness of the iron. Banks adds that he has waited all day in expectation of a letter from Whitehurst, either denying or acknowledging that he had made this grave mis statement to Keir
