Description | Salver, with an acanthus leaf and flower engraved decoration to the surface, framing a later inscription. With a raised leaf border, the slaver stands on four feet. The inscription reads: ‘PRESENTED TO THE REVD. HENRY STEBBING DD FRS. Rector of St. Nicholas Cole Abbey London. BY A NUMBER OF HIS FRIENDS in recognition of his long and devoted services as CHAPLAIN TO UNIVERSITY COLLEGE HOSPITAL from the foundation in 1834 until his retirement in 1879.’ Previously belonged to Henry Stebbing FRS. |
