Organised in three parts: on improving William Wales's observations; observations of ice; and observations of the Sun's light and heat. Compiled in response to a request from the Board of Longitude, via the President of the Royal Society, in preparations for the expeditionary voyage commanded by Constantine John Phipps (1744-1794), later 2nd Baron Mulgrave.
