A letter from [Charles James Buchanan] Riddell has arrived from Montreal, in which Riddell tells that he is looking for a new site for the establishment of the Canadian magnetic observatory in Quebec.

[John Frederic] Daniell is to be Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society. Sabine is disparaging of this appointment.
