Title | Letter from Francis Beaufort, Admiralty to Edward Sabine |
Date | 23 July 1853 |
Description | Beaufort informs Sabine that their Lordships have determined that all HMS vessels will keep a meteorological journal recording entries for wind and weather in the log book. Beaufort requests Sabine to inform him of the hours of day and night he would like the observations to be made at sea or at anchor, and the nature of the remarks. Beaufort would like to see a sample of the thermometers that Sabine previously mentioned and provide names that could construct them. |
