Title | Letter from Viscount Adare, Dunraven to [James Clark] Ross |
Date | 23 August 1839 |
Description | Adare comments on Ross’s imminent departure [reference to Ross’s Antarctic expedition], wishing him luck and complimenting Ross’s character. Adare notes that while on his travels they hear from Ross through [Francis] Beaufort and [Edward] Sabine, but that Sabine may be embarking on his own travels. Therefore, Adare requests Ross to write to him at least once a year. Adare expresses his wish to see Ross ‘entering the ice’. Griffin offers his congratulations to Ross. Adare reminds Ross to bring the various articles previously agreed and wishes him good health and a safe return. |
