Title | Letter from George Biddell Airy, Royal Observatory Greenwhich to Warren de la Rue |
Date | 10 January 1871 |
Description | Airy sends his remarks regarding pamphlet written by [Thomas] Grubb about the great Melbourne telescope as he is aware of Rue’s interest in this instrument. Airy remarks that the ‘erection of the reis’, and the unfortunate state of the mirror are of no fault of Grubb. Airy was most astonished by the mismanagement of the eyehole, and remarks upon Grubb’s superior knowledge on the subject and [Albert Le] Sueur’s ‘ignorance’. |
