Description | Ballot thanks Sabine for his paper on the influence of the hour angle of the moon on the magnetic declination. Ballot previously wrote to Sabine regarding observations at Toronto, Mr [Lambert Adolphe Jacques] Quetelet’s paper on [the departure of temperature from the average at different seasons of the year], and an inquiry on the moons age and declination of the needle. Discussion on observations at Greenwich and Utrecht 1841 to 1842. Ballot informs Sabine of the establishment of the Royal Meteorological Institute. Mr [Adolph Theodor] Kupffer and Quetelet have written to Ballot regarding a meteorological congress, which Ballot would like to be held at Utrecht, and discusses the purpose of a congress. Discussion on the cooperation between the Dutch and British governments. |
