Refers to the ‘immediate departure of Professor [Christian Gottfried] Ehrenberg. Dove refers to remarks on his tables for an investigation regarding the ‘mean temperature of months, seasons, and years at above 800 stations, the difference between the hottest and coldest months, the number of years, ad the time of observations. Dove reduced the temperature to Fahrenheit’s scale for the convenience of English readers. Refers to using [Friedrich Wilhelm] Bessel’s formula. Includes a list of results gathered from his data. Refers to ‘the mean warmth of the whole surface of the globe’, climate of Asia, Europe and America, the Asiatic pole, ‘the minimum temperature’ in the arctic America and arctic Asia, isothermal lines, and ‘the lemniscate form of’ isothermal lines. |
