Title | Letter from Robert Lewis John Ellery, Melbourne Observatory to Edward Sabine |
Date | 25 November 1864 |
Description | Ellery updates Sabine regarding the observations at Melbourne Observatory. Since Professor [Georg von] Neumayer’s departure to [Europe] they have continued observations of the magnetic variations at periods of maximum and minimum. They have also continued the monthly absolute determination of the dip and horizontal intensity. Ellery intends to accept Sabine’s advice and request Mr Adie to prepare a dip circle and unifilar for their observatory. Update regarding the astronomical department. |
