Discussion regarding Miller’s examination of the rain gauges in April. Discusses damage to the ‘Sea Fell gauge’ and employing a ‘temporary receiver’. Describes taking temperature and dew point at different mountain stations. Description of conditions at Sea Fell [Pike] and Gabel, and instruments. Discussion regarding expense of experiments. Miller intends to publish observations for 1847 in the [Edinburgh Philosophical] Journal. Describes making two observations with the wet and dry bulb thermometer as requested by [James] Glaisher. |
