Discussion regarding the creation of sun spots. Lamont expresses the need for ‘conducting physical investigations’ regarding even ‘doubtful’ theories. Discusses setting up new magnetic instruments and describes his findings. Discussion regarding Lamont’s latest discovery regarding a correction when ‘computing the observations of the inclination instrument’. Lamont has been unable to travel to Italy due to the ‘disturbed state of the country’. Lamont references Professor Wolf visiting Munich and disagreeing with him ‘in all respects’ due to Wolf’s ‘limited’ experience and views. |
